Bobcat code M0909: Fuel level too low
What it means
The fuel level has dropped below the low-fuel point. Telehandlers show the same code as fuel level low.
Can I keep running?
Keep going carefully, fix soonUsually, if the machine runs normally: finish the job carefully and fix it soon. Stop if the machine derates, overheats, loses power or the code comes with an alarm.
Check first
- Park on level ground, lower the lift arms and attachment to the ground, stop the engine and remove the key.
- Check the fuel level and refuel with clean diesel. No smoking or open flame near fuel.
- Restart and confirm the code clears.
- If the tank is full and the code stays on, check the fuel level sender connector and wiring.
Likely causes
- Tank is nearly empty
- Faulty fuel level sender or wiring (if the tank is actually full)
The fix
Refueling clears it. Try not to run dry: you may then need to bleed air from the fuel system (see Removing Air From the Fuel System in the O&M manual). If the code stays on with a full tank, the sender or its wiring needs work.
