Bobcat code E001076-16: Rail pressure control fault

What it means

The engine ECU reports a fuel rail pressure control fault. In Bobcat's E + SPN + FMI format, SPN 1076 is the fuel control valve on the high-pressure injection pump.

Can I keep running?

Stop: fix before running

No. Stop the machine safely (bucket or attachment down, engine off) and find the cause before you run it again.

Check first

  1. Park on level ground, lower the lift arms and attachment to the ground, stop the engine and remove the key.
  2. Check the fuel level. In cold weather, make sure the fuel is a winter blend or treated with anti-gel additive.
  3. Drain water from the fuel filter into a container as the O&M manual shows. Bobcat says to do this daily before operating.
  4. Replace the fuel filter if it is due or the engine dies after a few seconds of running.
  5. Inspect the low-pressure fuel lines and primer bulb for cracks, collapse or air leaks, then bleed air as the O&M manual shows.
  6. Don't loosen high-pressure fuel lines or feel for fuel leaks with your hand. Common-rail fuel is under very high pressure; leave that to a dealer.
  7. Restart and see if the code comes back. If it does, stop and call your Bobcat dealer.

Likely causes

  • Fuel gelled in cold weather
  • Plugged fuel filter
  • Air leak or collapsed primer bulb on the fuel supply side
  • Low fuel or water in the fuel
  • Fault in the pump's fuel control valve or its wiring

The fix

In cold weather, gelled fuel and a plugged filter are a common cause: warm the machine, treat or replace the fuel, and change the filter. If the supply side is fine, a dealer needs to check rail pressure and the pump's control valve.
