What it means

The engine air filter is restricted and needs service. Bobcat warns that prolonged running with M0117 active can cause severe engine damage.

Can I keep running?

Stop: fix before running

No. Stop the machine safely (bucket or attachment down, engine off) and find the cause before you run it again.

Check first

  1. Park on level ground, lower the lift arms and attachment to the ground, stop the engine and remove the key.
  2. Open the rear door and air cleaner as the O&M manual shows. Replace the outer filter rather than cleaning it.
  3. Wipe the housing and sealing surfaces clean (Bobcat says not to use compressed air), then refit the cover and latches.
  4. Start the engine and run it at full rpm. If the code is still on, replace the inner filter.
  5. If it stays on with new filters, check the intake for blockages and call your dealer.

  • Dirty outer air filter
  • Inner filter due after outer filter changes
  • Blocked air intake or precleaner
  • Faulty air filter switch (less common)
