Bobcat code M2899: Throttle secondary sensor not calibrated

What it means

The controller reports that the secondary sensor in the throttle control has not been calibrated.

Can I keep running?

Keep going carefully, fix soon

Usually, if the machine runs normally: finish the job carefully and fix it soon. Stop if the machine derates, overheats, loses power or the code comes with an alarm.

Check first

  1. Park on level ground, lower the lift arms and attachment to the ground, stop the engine and remove the key.
  2. Check that the hand throttle and foot throttle (if equipped) move freely through full travel.
  3. Inspect the throttle sensor connector for corrosion or damage.
  4. Check your O&M manual for any operator calibration steps for your panel. Otherwise book a dealer calibration.

Likely causes

  • Throttle control, sensor or controller was replaced or reprogrammed
  • Calibration was lost or never completed

The fix

Calibrating the throttle sensors clears it. That is usually done with Bobcat's service tool, so call your dealer if your manual has no operator procedure.
