Bobcat code M0515: Hydraulic charge pressure shutdown

What it means

Hydraulic charge pressure has fallen to the shutdown level. Bobcat's monitoring system sounds a steady alarm and stops the engine about 15 seconds later to protect the hydrostatic system.

Can I keep running?

Stop: fix before running

No. Stop the machine safely (bucket or attachment down, engine off) and find the cause before you run it again.

Check first

  1. Park on level ground, lower the lift arms and attachment to the ground, stop the engine and remove the key. Bobcat allows a restart only to move the machine out of the way.
  2. Check the hydraulic fluid level in the sight gauge and look for fresh oil under the machine.
  3. Never feel for a leak with your hand. Use cardboard; a pinhole leak can inject oil under the skin.
  4. Check the hydraulic/hydrostatic filter service record and replace the filter if due.
  5. Don't keep restarting to work. If the level and filter are fine, call your dealer.

Likely causes

  • Low hydraulic/hydrostatic fluid level or a major leak
  • Plugged hydraulic/hydrostatic filter
  • Faulty charge pressure sensor or wiring
  • Worn charge pump or internal leakage

The fix

Fix the cause before you operate again: refill and repair leaks, or replace a plugged filter. If none of that applies, a dealer needs to measure charge pressure and check the sensor and charge pump.
