Bobcat code M0710: Hydraulic fluid temperature too high
What it means
Hydraulic/hydrostatic fluid is hotter than normal (warning level). Bobcat's higher levels are M0711 (extremely high) and M0715 (shutdown).
Can I keep running?
Stop: fix before runningNo. Stop the machine safely (bucket or attachment down, engine off) and find the cause before you run it again.
Check first
- Park on level ground, lower the lift arms and attachment to the ground, stop the engine and remove the key. Let it idle briefly with no load if safe, then shut down and let it cool.
- Clean the hydraulic cooler and radiator with low-pressure air or water as the O&M manual shows.
- Once cool, check the hydraulic fluid level in the sight gauge.
- Never feel for a leak with your hand. Use cardboard; a pinhole leak can inject oil under the skin.
- If the code returns under light work, call your dealer.
Likely causes
- Debris blocking the hydraulic cooler or radiator
- Low hydraulic fluid level
- Heavy continuous work in hot weather
- Cooling fan not working
- Faulty temperature sensor (less common)
The fix
Cleaning the cooler and fixing the fluid level fixes most cases. Bobcat warns that running with a warning active can damage the hydraulic system.
