Bobcat code M3204: ACS controller no communication
What it means
The main controller isn't getting messages from the ACS/AHC (workgroup) controller, which runs lift and tilt from foot pedals or hand controls. Bobcat excavators use this number for a different fault, so check your machine type.
Can I keep running?
Stop: fix before runningNo. Stop the machine safely (bucket or attachment down, engine off) and find the cause before you run it again.
Check first
- Park on level ground, lower the lift arms and attachment to the ground, stop the engine and remove the key.
- Check battery voltage, then clean and tighten the battery cables and ground straps. Bobcat notes that loose or corroded grounds can set several codes at once.
- Check the fuses and relays for that circuit using the fuse decal or the O&M manual.
- Inspect the connector and harness at the part named in the code for corrosion, water, rubbed-through insulation or pushed-back pins.
- Restart and see if the code comes back. If it does, stop and call your Bobcat dealer.
Likely causes
- Low battery voltage or bad grounds
- Blown fuse feeding the ACS controller
- Loose or damaged connector or harness
- Failed ACS controller (less common)
The fix
Power, ground and harness repairs fix most cases. A dealer can test the ACS controller and data link if the code persists.
