Bobcat code W4005: Right joystick X-axis not in neutral
What it means
The right joystick's side-to-side (X) axis isn't reading neutral when the controller expects it to.
Can I keep running?
Stop: fix before runningNo. Stop the machine safely (bucket or attachment down, engine off) and find the cause before you run it again.
Check first
- Park on level ground, lower the lift arms and attachment to the ground, stop the engine and remove the key.
- Turn the key off, keep your hands off the controls, and restart.
- Check that the joystick moves freely and springs back to center.
- If the code returns with the joystick centered, stop and call your dealer.
- Do not bypass or modify the seat bar, BICS interlocks or parking brake to keep working.
Likely causes
- Joystick held or bumped during startup
- Joystick sticking or not returning to center
- Faulty joystick sensor or wiring
The fix
A hands-off restart clears it if the stick was just moved. A repeat code needs a dealer check or calibration of the joystick.
